MEOPAR supports interdisciplinary research activities that lead to advances in ocean observation, prediction and/or response which address the interaction between human activity and the marine environment.
MEOPAR connects academic researchers with partners from the government, scientific, industry, NGO and community sectors to generate critical knowledge and technology that will reduce risk and strengthen opportunity in Canada's marine environment. Projects are conceived in collaboration with partners and end-users, and integrate research from the natural and social sciences. Although projects are based at Canadian universities, they involve investigators and collaborators from within and outside of academia.
Scope: MEOPAR's research leads to advances in ocean observation, prediction and/or response which address the interaction between human activity and the marine environment. We focus our research capacity on issues related to climate change, marine weather/ocean conditions, and human activity and impacts in marine and coastal environments.
Portfolio: We are currently supporting 57 research projects at 24 Canadian universities.
