Steve Plante Université du Québec à Rimouski
This project seeks to better understand the planning challenges facing coastal communities. Plante and his colleagues are conducting an inventory of plans developed for coastal communities in the Estuary and Gulf of St. Lawrence, from adaptation plans to socioeconomic and sustainable development plans. The team will then work with communities in a collaborative process aimed at identifying barriers to implementation and variables that impact success.
Since January 2016, this project has been in discussion with the Union of Quebec Municipalities (UMQ) and the Ontario Association of Municipalities to consolidate a partnership that will allow the team to work with all municipalities along the St. Lawrence watershed. In April 2016, the project initiated the PhD students into the team.
