MEOPAR’s training program builds capacity in interdisciplinary research and hard skills related to marine environmental risk and the required response strategies. Training content is based on MEOPAR’s four challenge areas (Ocean Observation, Forecasting and Prediction, Coastal Resilience and Marine Operations) and core content areas relevant to Canada’s next generation of marine professionals.

ArcticNet-MEOPAR Arctic-Marine and Coastal Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

This grant is aimed at training the next generation of Arctic scientists as you develop into leaders in Arctic coastal and marine research.

SMRTS Professional Development 

Recognition Program

A customizable training opportunity that offers a micro credential certificate for completing 6 hours of SMRTS webinars.

Training Awards

MEOPAR Training Awards funded highly qualified personnel (HQP) in the MEOPAR Network to pursue unique, value-added training opportunities outside of their projects. Now closed.

Training Workshop Funding

Funded training workshops put on by Canadian organizations, students, and researchers. Now closed.

Postdoctoral Fellowship Awards

These awards is brought new postdoctoral fellows into the network to connect them with MEOPAR-funded researchers and HQP. Now closed.

Research Internships

This program provided funding for MEOPeers to participate in self-arranged or supervisor-arranged research internships, visiting fellowships or lab exchanges. Now closed.

Career Coaching Program

Whether it’s exploring and cultivating your strengths or fine-tuning leadership and management skills, MEOPAR is offering a Career Coaching Program to support MEOPAR network members.

MEOPAR is pleased to offer free webinars to our network on a variety of topics that relate to working in marine research, including knowledge mobilization, professional development and navigating academia.

Science Art Showcase

The Science-Art Symbiosis Showcase featured nine contributions, including eight interdisciplinary works submitted by a diverse group of artists, researchers, and thinkers, and a keynote conversation and presentation with Geneviève Dupéré about “écH2osystème,” a maritime acrobatic exploration of the St. Lawrence ecosystem (see video left).
