Summary:
The SASKE CoP creates a space for dialogue on the risks and impacts of increased shipping activity across Inuit Nunangat – homeland of Inuit in Canada. Its purpose is to foster the sharing and application of diverse knowledge systems regarding shipping risks and impacts, supporting collaborative learning and coordinated action across regions.

Goal and Approach:
By bringing together multiple ways of knowing, the SASKE CoP fosters meaningful exchange among western-trained researchers, local knowledge holders, youth, community members, policymakers, and industry partners to identify and co-develop regional research priorities related to the risks and impacts of increased Arctic shipping, while addressing emerging community concerns. Its primary goal is to facilitate the sharing and mobilization of knowledge to support collaborative learning and action across regions. Beginning in Nunavut, with a focus on Pond Inlet at the entrance to the Northwest Passage (NWP), the CoP expands across Inuit Nunangat to facilitate dialogue, co-develop research agendas, and share knowledge and results through in-person workshops and virtual meetings.
