Canadian Antarctic Research Expedition (CARE 2026)

Academic projects funded under MEOPAR’s support of Canadian Antarctic Research Expeditions (CARE) are designed to compliment those efforts of Canadian government research scientists. CARE present opportunities to broaden and deepen our understanding of polar environments, climate change, and how contaminants circulate around the globe. These expeditions align with MEOPAR’s commitment to enhancing Canada’s capacity to observe, predict, and respond to marine environmental changes, particularly amid the challenges posed by climate change. As a strategic partner, MEOPAR connects individuals and initiatives in ocean research to address urgent federal priorities. MEOPAR funded 5 researchers to participate in this expedition and 2 researchers to complete sample analyses from the CARE2025 expedition.
