MEOPAR is recruiting new members to join our Research Management Committee for the upcoming Fall 2025 (October-November) review cycle (and future calls) of the Community-Led Research Seed Funding Program (CLR Seed Fund).
We are specifically seeking community members with experience in ocean stewardship, community-based researchers, and Indigenous researchers or leaders with experience in community-led and Indigenous-led research* related to the ocean. Your perspectives are essential to ensuring that the review process is grounded in community values and lived experience.
About the RMC
The RMC is responsible for quality assurance and on-going assessment of MEOPAR’s science, training, and knowledge mobilization activities. Key role of the RMC includes:
- Feedback on calls for proposals (CFPs): Providing input on strategic direction for CFPs; reviewing drafts; designing evaluation and review procedures.
- Review of proposals: Assessing project proposals against evaluation criteria; recommending projects for awards; making strategic recommendations about budget allocations to fit overall program budgets.
The normal term for Committee members is three (3) years but can be extended for another three (3) years with approval of the Board of Directors (BoD). The RMC is meeting at least three (3) times a year, of which one (1) is face-to-face. The committee may meet more frequently as deemed necessary by the Chair with due notice. Committee members are compensated for travel expenditures as per MEOPAR’s financial and travel policies.

Community-led research is a research approach where community members actively participate in all stages of the research process, from identifying the research question to analyzing results and taking action.
