MEOPAR partnered with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to support the participation of two students or early career ocean professionals (ECOPs) for the Marine Renewables 2025 expedition. The expedition, aboard the RRS James Cook, departed from Halifax, NS on 6 September 2025, for the Eastern Scotian Shelf and return to port on 25 September. The objective of this cruise was to map and characterize the potential for marine renewable energy development specifically in the areas of French Bank, Middle Bank, Sable Bank, Shortland Canyon, and Sydney Bight as part of ongoing marine spatial planning programs for potential development of wind energy.
