Summary:
This community focuses on responsible, inclusive, and evidence-based marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) in British Columbia and Washington State, serving as a forum for research, knowledge sharing, and policy engagement.

Goal and Approach:
The BC/WA mCDR CoEx brings together researchers, Indigenous and local knowledge holders, communities, industry, practitioners, and policymakers across British Columbia and Washington State to explore responsible, inclusive, and evidence-based marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) — a range of approaches that remove CO₂ from the atmosphere and enable its durable storage in or through marine environments. The CoEx fosters transboundary collaboration across disciplines, sectors, and jurisdictions, knowledge sharing and co-production, coordinated research, and policy engagement to help inform how—and if—mCDR can be safely, equitably, and effectively advanced in the region.
