Summary:
The NEMO CoP enhances coordination between ocean modelling groups across Canada. This includes sharing the latest developments, training the next generation of practitioners, and providing Canadian highly qualified personal (HQP) and early career researchers (ECR) to be more involved in NEMO modeling activities.
Goal and Approach:
Established in 2021, the NEMO CoP aims to: (1) strengthen coordination among ocean modelling groups across Canada, particularly those using the Nucleus for European Modelling of the Ocean (NEMO) model; (2) facilitate knowledge exchange on the latest developments in ocean modelling across academic, government, NGOs, and industry communities; (3) promote the sharing of model developments, code, tools, forcing files, and simulations; (4) support the training and development of the next generation of ocean modelling practitioners; (5) strengthen connections between Canadian researchers and the NEMO Developers and System Team; and (6) increase opportunities for Canadian HQP and ECRs to participate in NEMO modelling activities nationally and internationally.
