COMREN CoP is a national hub connecting ocean mapping experts, students, and partners from academia, government, industry and coastal communities, with the primary objective of strengthening Canada’s ocean mapping capacity.
Goal and Approach:
Established in 2021, COMREN’s goal is to reinforce Canada’s ocean mapping capacity by fostering partnerships, advancing collaborative research, and developing educational programs aligned with national ocean priorities. It seeks to strengthen and diversify the talent pipeline in hydrospatial sciences by creating opportunities for Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP) and expanding access to critical research infrastructure. COMREN also aims to formalize collaborative structures that support sustained growth through the active engagement of end-users—including industry, Indigenous communities, and other partners—in shaping research priorities and delivering meaningful, lasting outcomes.
