Summary:
Established in 2023, the PPM CoP seeks to strengthen the coherence and effectiveness of public policies affecting the St. Lawrence River and the coastal communities of maritime Quebec and Atlantic Canada as they navigate complex socio-ecological transitions. It also aims to foster a culture of maritimity—the relationship between society and the sea—across Quebec, while equipping coastal communities with the knowledge, tools, and partnerships needed to guide their development and enhance their long-term resilience.

Goal and Approach:
The PPM CoP aims to promote a more integrated and coherent approach to public policies related to the St. Lawrence River and the coastal communities of maritime Quebec and Atlantic Canada. This goal will be pursued through three objectives: 1) creating a space for information-sharing and dialogue to map public policies and identify the challenges they raise; 2) fostering integrated and collaborative reflection on these policies to develop concrete solutions to identified challenges; and 3) developing a shared plan to integrate these solutions into public policies. Through an interdisciplinary, intersectoral, and place-based approach, this CoP brings together partners from diverse sectors to share knowledge and perspectives, learn collectively, and co-develop solutions.
