Dates
- Mobilization: September 2-8, 2021
- Offshore: September 9-18, 2021
- De-mobilization: September 19-24, 2021
Cruise aims:
- Mooring deployment
- Seacycler
- PPS-Plankton & Carbon Mooring
- Water column sampling for SeaCycler, PPS and Carbon Package ‘calibrations’
- extensive sampling after mooring deployments at mooring location
- ‘Bowtie’ sampling around mooring location for spatial context
- Water column sampling for biogeochemistry objectives, underway samples, filters, – extended Halifax Line
- Obtain fog and particle measurements (atmosphere)
Objectives and Science questions
- SeaCycler and PPS testing: operation, communication, sample triggering
- Observe late fall productivity in relation to other biogeochemical processes: air-sea exchange of gases, carbon budget, turbulence (Wallace/Atamanchuk/Bertrand/LaRoche)
- Establish the extent to which specific coccolithophore-produced biomarkers capture the isotopic composition of the water they grow in.
