For over a decade, MEOPAR has been bringing together people, ideas, and initiatives to strengthen ocean research across Canada. We fund innovative science, break down barriers to collaboration, and support the next generation of marine professionals through training and mentorship.
As MEOPAR enters an exciting new phase, we are seeking passionate, strategic, and community-minded leaders to join our Board of Directors.
Why Now?
In 2023, MEOPAR was awarded major federal funding through the Strategic Science Fund (SSF), part of an $800 million national investment supporting Canada’s science and research organizations. This new funding enables MEOPAR to expand its mission in alignment with urgent federal priorities, through:
- Research funding
- Talent development and attraction
- Knowledge mobilization
- Strengthening Canada’s ocean science culture
A key focus of our reimagined mandate is building a more community-driven network, including new collaboration models, enhanced Communities of Practice, and greater support for Indigenous-led and locally driven research.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking individuals who bring strategic insight, diverse perspectives, and a commitment to advancing ocean knowledge in Canada. Experience in governance, research, ocean industries, community leadership, policy, or equity-focused work is an asset.
