MEOPAR welcomes new staff

We’re pleased to introduce two new staff members joining the MEOPAR team. Alexa Goodman has taken over the Training Program Manager position, while Dan Gibson joins MEOPAR in a new role, as the Project Manager for our Modular Ocean Research Infrastructure Initial Development & Demonstration (MORI IDD) project. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Alexa and Dan, we’re excited for the expertise and energy they will bring to the MEOPAR Network.

Alexa Goodman, Training Program Manager

Alexa completed a Master of Marine Management at Dalhousie University, with a background in marine biology and environmental sustainability (BSc.), where their research and expertise has focused on managing abandoned, lost, and discarded fishing gear, also called “ghost gear,” in Atlantic Canada. They’ve been a Sustainable Oceans Alliance Youth Leader since 2019 and are passionate about doing good for our planet and its people. Alexa is excited to join the MEOPAR team as Training Program Manager in hopes of equipping the next generation of marine researchers with the tools needed to excel. Dan Gibson, Project Manager, Modular Ocean Research Infrastructure Initial Development and Demonstration Project (MORI IDD)

Dan brings over 30 years of diverse ocean technology leadership experience to the team. His background spans heavy marine equipment design and fabrication, acoustic instrumentation development and the provision of sub-sea services to the offshore industry.  This practical experience is supplemented with academic degrees in Ocean Technology and Business Administration (Florida Tech). Dan is deeply passionate about the marine environment and in particular the critical importance of a robust scientific research capability. Contact Dan at dan.gibson@meopar.ca.
